What?

For this project, I created a virtual Bitmoji classroom representing a fictional third-grade classroom, which reflects a professional goal of being an elementary teacher. I designed the classroom as a central location where students and families could easily access important resources, including a Meet the Teacher page, teacher email, daily schedule, lunch menu, homework, school calendar, and Clever. Rather than creating a classroom for appearance alone, I focused on making it practical, organized, and easy to navigate.

So What?

This project aligns with ISTE Educator Standard 2.5c: Innovative Learning Environments, which encourages educators to design equitable digital learning environments that support learning. While many virtual classrooms focus primarily on students, I intentionally designed mine with families in mind. By providing one organized location for communication and classroom resources, I demonstrated how technology can strengthen partnerships between home and school. I realized that a virtual classroom can continue to evolve throughout the year by adding resources such as permission slips, newsletters, volunteer information, or a Home and School Communication page.

Now What?

Teaching PreK Counts has shown me that every classroom has different communication needs. While I currently rely on ClassDojo because it best serves many of our families, this project reinforced that technology should always be selected with purpose. In the future, I hope to create digital communication tools that are organized, accessible, and responsive to the needs of students and families while continuing to strengthen the partnership between home and school.
